ABOUT TERRY

Terry Allbritton is no stranger to the service of others, he has dedicated his life to it. As a native Houstonian, he answered a calling born out of a sense of duty and a commitment to serving something greater than himself. He has spent the last 35 years honoring that commitment.

MILITARY SERVICE

Terry began his lifetime career of service in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served with distinction from 1988 to 1992. He was deployed to Saudi Arabia as a logistics specialist during the Desert Shield/Desert Storm war where his organizational and leadership skills were tested under the most critical of circumstances.

Terry’s focus on excellence and unwavering commitment to the mission made him an invaluable asset to the Air Force during this conflict. He worked tirelessly to maintain the timely and efficient movement of personnel, equipment, and supplies throughout the theater of operations.  His efforts contributed significantly to the overall success of the military campaign and earned him numerous medals including, the Air Force Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, and the Southwest Asia Service Medal.

Beyond his service in Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Terry continued to exemplify the core values of the Air Force throughout his military career. His leadership, attention to detail, and ability to navigate complex logistical challenges left lasting impressions on his fellow service members and commanders alike.

LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICE

After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, Terry traded one uniform for another. With the same sense of duty and commitment that carried him through his military career, he joined the ranks of the Harris County Constable’s Office Precinct 5 in July of 1993.

Terry began his law enforcement career as a patrol deputy, where he quickly gained a reputation as a competent and professional peace officer. Over the years, Terry served in numerous divisions including Patrol, Special Operations, Toll Road, and Parks. He quickly rose through the ranks, acquiring valuable experience in various roles, including investigations, community policing, and leadership positions. Terry was promoted to the rank of Chief in June of 2016.

While serving on the Toll Road, the skills he developed in the Air Force were once again tapped into as he was consulted on numerous roadway and highway design and construction projects. Some of these include the widening of the Katy Freeway, the Sam Houston Tollway, and the future Toll Bridge Project. His input greatly assisted in the current infrastructure that helps millions of Houstonians reach their destinations daily.

Throughout Terry’s career, both in the Air Force and Precinct 5, he demonstrated a level of professionalism, matched by proficiency, that instilled confidence in those around him. It was this confidence that led Constable Heap to appoint Terry to the role of Chief Financial Officer for the department.

Maintaining the budget for the second largest Constable’s agency in the country, a department with over 500 employees and assets valued at over 250 million dollars was no simple task. Once again Terry proved that he was the right person for the job.

Despite his position as a Chief, one of the senior command staff members and a respected leader with incredible responsibilities placed on him, Terry has remained humble and considers himself just part of the team. It’s not uncommon to find him rolling up his sleeves and helping with tasks that could easily be assigned to others.

Whether it’s helping with a downed piece of equipment or hooking up a trailer, loading the equipment, then transporting it himself to be worked on, Terry is always willing to help. He often takes personal time to assist with community events and is readily available to stand in as the Constable’s representative when called to do so.

AS A LEADER

The Precinct 5 Constable’s office has worked hard through the years to establish a reputation as one of the most professional, effective, and respected law enforcement agencies, not only in Texas, but across the Country. It has achieved this distinction through the hard work of the men and women who wear the Precinct 5 badge and leadership of those like Chief Terry Allbritton. Continuing the innovative practices that have built the departments legacy, is something Terry is committed to.

But Terry would be the first to tell you that the goal is not building a reputation or legacy, those are means to the end.  The goal is pushing the department to be the best it can be in order to provide the level of service that all the residents of Precinct 5 deserve.

Terry is deeply invested in the community, it’s safety and development, after all he is a resident raising his own family in the Precinct.   Recognizing the interconnectedness of public safety and community well-being, Terry actively promotes local initiatives aimed at developing community partnerships, improving education, enhancing public safety and strengthening social services within Precinct 5.

Fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and the diverse communities that exist within the precinct is a commitment Terry Allbritton strongly believes in. Understanding the power of community-oriented policing, Terry is committed to building trust and collaboration between law enforcement officers and those they serve. For more information Click Here.
